Nutrition and Dietetic Support

We are here to help

Nutrition and Dietetic Support

At Sage Clinics, we understand the integral role that nutrition plays in mental health and overall well-being. Our Nutrition and Dietetics Services offer personalized support and guidance to help individuals improve their nutrition, manage their weight, and enhance their mental and physical health.

Nutrition and diet play a crucial role in supporting mental health and overall wellness. A well-balanced diet can provide essential nutrients that support brain function, regulate mood, and improve energy levels. Conversely, poor nutrition can contribute to mood swings, fatigue, and other symptoms of mental health conditions.

Our Nutrition and Dietetics Services are designed to provide individuals with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to make healthy food choices and optimize their nutrition. Whether you’re looking to improve your overall health, manage a specific mental health condition, or address weight-related concerns, our team of experienced dietitians is here to support you on your journey to better health.

We take a holistic approach to nutrition and wellness, focusing on evidence-based practices and individualized care. We believe in empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health and providing them with the tools and support they need to achieve their goals.

Bariatric Support

In addition to general nutrition counseling, we also offer specialized support for individuals who have undergone bariatric surgery or are considering weight loss surgery. Bariatric surgery can be a life-changing procedure that requires careful attention to nutrition and dietary habits to ensure long-term success and optimal health outcomes.

Our bariatric support program provides comprehensive nutrition counseling and education to help individuals navigate the dietary changes associated with bariatric surgery, achieve and maintain weight loss goals, and improve overall health and well-being. Our dietitians work closely with each individual to develop personalized nutrition plans tailored to their unique needs and goals, providing ongoing support and guidance throughout their weight loss journey.

Ben's Journey

Ben, a 21-year-old university student, sought nutrition and dietetic support alongside his eating disorder therapy sessions with a psychologist at Sage Clinics. Ben had been struggling with disordered eating patterns, including restrictive eating and binge-purge behaviors, for several years and recognized the need for comprehensive support to address his eating disorder and improve his overall health and well-being.

During his initial assessment with our registered dietitian at Sage Clinics, Ben shared his history of disordered eating, concerns about food and body image, and goals for seeking nutrition and dietetic support. Ben expressed a desire to develop a healthier relationship with food, improve his eating habits, and address nutritional deficiencies resulting from his disordered eating patterns.
Ben's treatment team at Sage Clinics adopted a collaborative approach to address his eating disorder and nutritional concerns. Our registered dietitian and psychologist worked closely together to coordinate Ben's care. In his nutrition and dietetic support sessions, Ben worked closely with the registered dietitian to develop a personalized nutrition plan tailored to his unique needs and goals. Together, they explored Ben's attitudes and beliefs about food, identified triggers for disordered eating behaviors, and developed strategies to challenge and modify these behaviors. The registered dietitian provided Ben with education about nutrition, meal planning, and mindful eating practices, helping him learn to listen to his body's hunger and fullness cues and make food choices that nourished his body and supported his recovery. They also addressed any nutritional deficiencies through targeted dietary interventions and supplementation, as needed.

By working together as a cohesive team, the registered dietitian and psychologist were able to provide Ben with comprehensive care that addressed his nutritional, psychological, and emotional needs, ultimately supporting his journey toward recovery and improved overall well-being.
