“Meaningful support begins with understanding the person beyond the difficulties – their story, relationships, culture, and the experiences that have shaped their lives.”
Akvile is currently completing an MSc in Clinical Psychology at the University of Birmingham. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Birmingham and is a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society (GMBPsS).
Her clinical interests centre on trauma, psycho-oncology, adjustment to illness, grief and bereavement, and culturally sensitive psychological practice. She has gained clinical exposure at Kaunas University Hospital in Lithuania, assisting with therapeutic play and emotional wellbeing activities, and at the Youth Line call centre, developing skills in active listening and crisis communication. In Dubai, she supported women affected by cancer through psychosocial and wellness programmes at Al Jalila Foundation’s Majlis Al Amal, deepening her interest in psycho-oncology. Her MSc research examines how cultural beliefs shape experiences of bereavement across different cultural contexts.
Before training in psychology, Akvile completed a Master’s in International Relations and Diplomacy and a Bachelor’s in Political Science, followed by almost a decade of experience within diplomatic and governmental institutions, which strongly shaped her interest in working with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
Akvile brings a thoughtful, culturally attuned approach to her work, informed by both her clinical training and her years of cross-cultural professional experience.
