Dr. Hollie Shannon

Clinical Psychologist, specialist for Children, Adolescents, Adults, and Eating Disorders

Dr Hollie Shannon is a Clinical Psychologist from Australia with over a decade of experience working with children, adolescents and adults with eating disorders and/or body image concerns.

She is passionate about dismantling the stigma surrounding mental health and eating disorders in particular, so that people of all ages, genders, sizes and cultures can access treatment as soon as possible when they need it.

Prior to specialising in this field, Dr Hollie worked in child and adolescent mental health services for a number of years. This involved working with young people individually as well as with their families and schools addressing a wide range of mental health concerns including anxiety and mood disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, and behavioural disorders.

In 2015, she relocated to the UK to work at the world-renowned Maudsley Hospital Eating Disorders Service in London. There, Dr Hollie worked with adults providing individual and group outpatient treatments. Most recently she developed a day treatment program for adolescents with anorexia and was selected to present this work at the London International Eating Disorders Conference in 2023.

As a senior clinician and supervisor, Dr Hollie endeavours to foster a compassionate and collaborative therapeutic relationship with her clients and supervisees, underpinned by best practice guidelines. She strongly endorses body diversity and is committed to providing weight-inclusive care and non-diet approaches. Most importantly, Dr Hollie believes that recovery from an eating disorder is always possible and considers it a genuine privilege to be part of someone’s recovery journey.
