Dr Victoria Mountford

Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Psychology Lead and Eating Disorder Service Lead

Eating disorders can devastate the lives of individuals and their families. I am passionate about providing the best multi-disciplinary, evidence-based care to promote recovery.

I am a Clinical Psychologist from the UK with over 20 years of experience in working with individuals with eating disorders and body image concerns and their families. I completed my BA (Hons) in Psychology at the University of Reading, followed by my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London.

Prior to moving to the UAE I worked in specialist NHS outpatient clinics and in inpatient and day-care eating disorder services in the UK and I also worked at the prestigious Maudsley Hospital Eating Disorders Service in London, England. I was part of the founding team who developed FREED, the first early intervention eating disorder service in the UK.

I moved to the UAE in 2019, where my main focus has been on raising awareness and increasing access to treatment for young people and adults with eating disorders and their families. I use evidence-based practices to ensure my patients receive the best care.

In addition to practicing clinically, I continue my research to improve and develop effective treatments, sharing my findings at international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals. I regularly present at conferences across the region. I have published widely, including three books: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for the Eating Disorders: A Comprehensive Treatment Guide (2007), Beating Your Eating Disorder: A Cognitive-Behavioural Self Help Guide for Adult Sufferers and their Carers (2010) and Brief Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Non-Underweight Patients: CBT-T for Eating Disorders (2019). In 2020, I was the joint recipient of the Academy for Eating Disorders Outstanding Clinician Award.
