Dr Victoria Mountford

Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Lead Clinical Psychologist and Eating Disorder Service Lead

Eating disorders can devastate the lives of individuals and their families. I am passionate about providing the best multi-disciplinary, evidence-based care to promote recovery.

From the UK, I have over 20 years of experience in working with individuals and their families with a range of psychological difficulties including mood and anxiety disorders such as depression, generalized anxiety disorder, low self-esteem, stress and burn out and eating disorders.  My work has encompassed individuals of all ages, cultures and backgrounds in both private and public facilities.

I also have extensive skills and experience in working with individuals with eating disorders and body image concerns and their families, working in specialist NHS outpatient, in patient and day-care eating disorder services. I have lived and worked in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. I use evidence-based practice to ensure clients receive the best care.

In addition to practicing clinically, I regularly present at conferences across the region. I have published widely, including three books: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for the Eating Disorders: A Comprehensive Treatment Guide (2007), Beating Your Eating Disorder: A Cognitive-Behavioural Self Help Guide for Adult Sufferers and their Carers (2010) and Brief Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Non-Underweight Patients: CBT-T for Eating Disorders (2019). In 2020, I was the joint recipient of the Academy for Eating Disorders Outstanding Clinician Award.

I completed my BA (Hons) in Psychology at the University of Reading, followed by my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London. Prior to moving to the UAE, I worked at the prestigious Maudsley Hospital in London, England.
