Dr Teizeem Dhanji

Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, Eating Disorders Specialist

My experience of working with individuals and their families gives me a greater understanding of the effect of mental health difficulties on all systems around the individual, and how each system can be an integral part of your journey to recovery.

I am UK trained Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, with specialist experience in eating disorders, with extensive experience managing all mental health disorders presenting in childhood and adolescence, including depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders. I obtained my medical degree in the UK, and then went on to complete my Core Psychiatry and Specialist Child & Adolescent training at the renowned Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. This has allowed me to adopt psychiatric, psychodynamic and systemic approaches to managing children and young people.

Prior to moving to the UAE, I provided consultant care within a multidisciplinary eating disorder service in the UK, managing clients within outpatient, day patient and inpatient services. I have also worked as joint lead of the eating disorder service at other clinics in Dubai and Abu Dhabi before joining Sage.

I have a passion for working with individuals, their families and their networks, in order to provide holistic care to improve psychological, physical and social wellbeing. I understand that mental ill health affects all systems around the individual and I am an advocate for early intervention and treatment, to achieve best outcomes.
