Dr Wafa Saoud

Clinical Psychologist, Lead of Children and Adolescent Services

I am committed to developing collaborative and supportive relationships with my patients, to help them meet their treatment goals.

Dr. Wafa Saoud is a Canadian Clinical Psychologist specializing in the mental health of children, adolescents, and emerging adults. She provides assessment, consultation, and evidence-based interventions for mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.

At Sage Clinics, Dr. Saoud offers treatment for anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, and grief, as well as emotion dysregulation, behavioral challenges, self-harm, and addiction (e.g., vaping). She also works with parents to strengthen family dynamics and parent-child relationships when desired.

In addition to therapy, Dr. Saoud conducts comprehensive neuropsychological assessments for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and learning disorders. Taking a biopsychosocial approach, she evaluates both neurodevelopmental and co-occurring mental health concerns to provide a well-rounded understanding of an individual’s strengths, challenges, and areas for growth.

Dr. Saoud has trained and worked at Canada’s leading mental health institutions, including the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and IWK Children’s Hospital. She has completed psychoeducational assessments to support academic planning in Canadian schools also holds specialized training in youth forensic assessments, conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations for youth with conduct-related challenges.

Known for her warmth and empathy, Dr. Saoud aims to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space for clients. She tailors interventions to each individual’s unique needs and goals, integrating Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). She also utilizes Motivational Interviewing (MI) to enhance readiness for change and incorporates attachment-based principles to promote healthy emotional development and relationships.

As Lead of Child and Adolescent Services at Sage Clinics, Dr. Saoud is committed to mentoring clinicians and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. She values strength-based care, aiming to ensure individuals and families feel heard and understood. She also prioritizes interdisciplinary teamwork, working closely with other professionals to provide comprehensive, coordinated care.
