Psychotherapy and Counseling

Psychotherapy – also known as “talk therapy” – is central to the journey of self-awareness and recovery in mental health and emotional wellbeing. In each therapy session, an experienced therapist uses proven techniques to help explore the key thoughts, emotions and behaviors that guide your life; and based on these, will help you develop the skills needed to overcome the challenges you face. The process is scientific in its approach, personalized to you and your needs, and carried out with specific goals in mind

Therapists use a variety of approaches to understand and treat mental health issues. The choice of therapy model depends on your needs, challenges, personality, thinking style, and the outcome you seek. In all cases the process is personalized to you and involves a confidential, trusting relationship between you and a highly qualified, professionally trained therapist.

Neha's Journey

Neha, a 28-year-old marketing executive, sought help at Sage Clinics to address her difficulty managing emotions, poor sleep, and low mood following the breakdown of her long-term relationship. Feeling overwhelmed and hopeless, Neha realized that she needed support to navigate through this challenging time in her life.

During her initial consultation at Sage Clinics, Neha shared her struggles, describing how the end of her relationship had left her feeling devastated, anxious, and unable to cope with everyday stressors. The psychologist listened attentively to Neha's concerns, providing a safe and supportive environment for her to express her emotions and experiences. Together, they explored the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that were contributing to Neha's distress, as well as identifying triggers for her low mood and sleep difficulties. She identified her goals were to improve her sleep, get back to doing the things she enjoyed and regulate her anxiety. She also wanted to slowly move on with her life post-relationship breakup. They agreed to meet for an initial 6 sessions of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and review how it was going.

Throughout her sessions, Neha learned practical strategies and coping skills grounded in CBT principles to help her manage her emotions and improve her sleep hygiene. They worked on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns, developing relaxation techniques to reduce anxiety, and establishing a consistent bedtime routine to promote better sleep.

Neha also explored ways to rebuild her sense of self-worth and resilience in the aftermath of her breakup. With guidance, she engaged in self-care activities, such as journaling, exercise, and spending time with supportive friends and family members, to nurture her emotional well-being and foster a sense of connection and belonging.

As Neha progressed through her CBT sessions, she began to notice positive changes in her mood, sleep patterns, and overall outlook on life. She felt more empowered to cope with life's challenges, recognizing her strengths and resilience in the face of adversity. She and her therapist met for 12 weekly sessions and then moved sessions to fortnightly whilst working towards the ending of therapy after 16 sessions.

After several weeks of therapy, Neha reflected on her journey at Sage Clinics with gratitude and appreciation for the support she received. She felt better equipped to navigate her emotions and cope with the ups and downs of life, knowing that she had the tools and skills to thrive independently.
